All other models are rockered in the tip only, for enhanced flotation in soft snow and terrain-smoothing shock absorption. The Nordica GT Speedmachine 80 EVO earned three 10s (out of 10) in the Overall Classification of the Carving Category, all from testers who felt this was custom-built for race-style skiers who want to attack the groomed the same way they would attack a race course. The top-of-the-line Wildfire is rockered in both the tip and tail, for maximum maneuverability in deep snow. The foam stringers are combined with wood down the middle and over the edges for edge stability and integrity. The Elexas are great for beginner through intermediate skiers who want to have a grand time on the slopes with an easy-going, forgiving pair of skis. The top five models are built using Nordica’s women’s specific Energy CA wi-Core, which has two strips of PU foam to make it even lighter than the men’s version. For a technical hard-snow carver, see the Frontside Collection’s Cinnamon Girl EVO, with its 72-mm waist.) (For a dedicated powder ski, see the Freeski collection’s women’s-specific La Nina, with its 113-mm waist. The collection covers a broad range of waist widths, from 107 (Wildfire) down to 75 mm (Elexa), and ability levels, ranging in price from $849 down to $449 MSRP. Nordica’s All-Mountain collection for women includes five high-performance models, all sold flat (Wildfire, Nemesis, Hell’s Belles, Wild Belle, and Belle to Belle), plus three value versions, which are sold with bindings (First Belle, Drive 78 and Elexa) and are built using softer, simpler constructions. The 177 and 185 cm lengths are 107 in the waist the shorter models are 105 mm. The Wildfire/Vagabond is also the only model in the series in which the waist widths vary from length to length in order to maintain a consistent sidecut radius. Tapering of the tail is designed to further enhance its soft-snow and powder performance, by giving the tail a looser feel at the end of the turn. It’s the widest model in the women’s All-Mountain collection and the only one with both tip and tail rocker. The new Wildfire is the women’s version of the men’s Vagabond, sharing the same shape and construction, but with Nordica’s lighter-weight, women’s-specific wi-Core construction. ![]() ![]() Get full access to Outside Learn, our online education hub featuring in-depth fitness, nutrition, and adventure courses and more than 2,000 instructional videos when you sign up for Outside+
